SHAMPOO BAR || I know some of you out there have been SUPER DUPER patient, waiting for the Shampoo Bar to make a comeback! Others are like, whaaa, Shampoo Bar, what even IS that?

To both camps, I can say, Yes! Welcome to the new Shampoo Bar...not soap-based like our old bar, but a much gentler version and the equivalent to 16oz of liquid shampoo! This latest bar is surfactant-based, yet with our fave parts of our old version, like rhassoul clay which imparts lift to the locks, and rosemary for a happy scalp.

Surfactants provide the context for the forbidden love between two substances, oil and water. With Surfactants, the Romeo and Juliet affair between oil and water doesn’t end in tragedy, but rather, a bomb ass hair day.

The Shampoo Bar is gentle on the hair and scalp, making it for use on the daily. Because it is concentrated, be sure to remember a little goes a long way!

CONDITIONER BAR || That’s right friend, a conditioner in a bar form. We love making your package free dreams come true in a way that doesn’t mess with the lusciousness of your locks. This lil’ bar is the equivalent of an entire bottle of conditioner! Store in your tin and travel light. For use in all hair types, all genders, all backgrounds.

To Use: Think of the conditioner bar like an everlasting gobstopper...for your hair. Rub the Conditioner Bar under the water in your hands to get it started, then smooth along the ends of your hair for a few passes until you feel that conditioning slick. Then rinse! Works as a leave-in conditioner too for those with manes that need some reins.

Fat as the first word in the name of my business has gotten me in some interesting discussions. People ask me about the name all the time because they can hardly believe I would use a word that has such negative connotations, especially when it is used within ‘beauty care’.

In part, I use the word ‘fat’ to be provocative; I don’t believe fat is a dirty word. But most of the fat in Fat and the Moon comes from my love of the material- oil is the medium of external herbal medicine. Fat in the form of oil, is the gift of the seed. Fat, both in plants and animals, is where energy is stored. The richness we taste in food, and the suppleness we feel on our skin after a good slather of bath oil, is our bodies recognition of and pleasure in that vital energy. Oil from plants, in and of itself, is medicinal. I feel honored as a medicine maker to indulge in the play of fat and herbs, especially under the influence of the moon.
