|| ABOUT MARSHALL CLAY CO. ||
I have early memories of being around clay and wheels and kilns and all sorts of tools. Making pinch pots and little sculptures while my dad worked on the wheel. He has been a potter since high school and still creates amazing things to today. He is the one who got this all started when he exposed my imagination to the medium of clay. Eventually, I studied ceramics at Sacramento state, where I really practiced my wheel throwing technique and gained a new appreciation for the art form. I've been a part time production potter for 10 years now, which I'm grateful for.
Ceramics is a very therapeutic art form, as it causes me to live in the moment and is a great exercise in discipline and focus. Ceramics is a visual art, but it's also so much about texture and touch. Each piece is unique in shape and color and they each have their own story and special use. I love that I use a natural medium from elements of the earth to create usable vessels. -Nate Marshall Esway
