TAROT OF THE HOLY SPECTRUM
Tarot of the Holy Spectrum is a product of the last several years of Chase Voorhees life. At the onset of its creation, his main goal was to create a deck that spoke in a cohesive color language.
In the creation of the deck, he was inspired by the imagery of the Smith Rider Waite, and the work of Lindsay Mack, founder of Tarot for the Wild Soul, whose teachings served as a foundation for many of the visuals in the cards. Ultimately, the art in the finished deck is a blend of the inspirations mentioned above, and his own intuitively guided interpretations of the archetypes.
When he first started creating this deck, it began as an artistic challenge. The goal was to set very specific color boundaries, and then see if he could stick with them through the process of making an entire deck.
He decided pretty early on that each suit of The Minor Arcana would be a complete color spectrum. The Court Cards would be monochromatic, and The Major Arcana would feature black and white imagery with a single highlighted color, determined by the particular card’s number.
The Fool is the only card to feature every color in the form of a spectrum.
Chase Voorhees is a self taught, multi disciplinary artist. Tarot for the Holy Spectrum is Chase’s first Tarot deck, one that he has been working on since he quit his day job to be a full time artist two years ago.
Chase currently lives in the forest in Oregon with his wife and cat, Weewoo. He is a Scorpio Sun/Sagittarius Moon/Taurus Rising.
